Weekly Ministry status quo of Milal
God’s love and His greatness are all reflected and realized by the works of a disabled ministry. Not only is God’s love evident through faith lives, it is also witnessed through a copious amounts of social interactions, health of the body and mind, and also through activities of daily life. It is one of the aims of Milal to provide reprieve to the parents and the families, and the disabled individual. By providing these services, the love and the righteousness of God will be revealed within our premise. The Milal New Jersey Mission operates the following programs to realize the gospel of God.

1.Saturday Agape Classes
It is a free service for children and young people with disabilities. These programs are tailored for children who are 5 years and older, these classes are held every Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Since its inception on September 2009, more than 90 disabled children and volunteers have teamed up to learn the love of God. Not only does these benevolent acts bring happiness to God but they also allow the growth of an individual’s spirit and also helps improve emotional, educational, and social developments. Through the various components of the Saturday agape classes, opportunities in activities related to recreation, education, and worship are amplified. There is a dual symbiotic reward benefit to this approach. The often-neglected children with disabilities can witness the love of God and the volunteers are instilled with a sense of bliss at their own fulfillment of a civic duty. Such said services are offered as well in the Milal New Jersey Central branch from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm every Saturday.

2.Tuesday Meeting
To reinforce the love and the word of God, we supplement our Sunday services with a Tuesday meeting. Every Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, we come together to encourage each other in this troublesome world and to reiterate our beliefs. We start the meeting with a dinner for all. This gesture promotes fellowship amongst each other. Following dinner there are times allotted for worship and biblical study. The night ends around 9:00 PM after a session of body worship. Meanwhile, there is an area dedicated for disabled children to engage in activities with our volunteers. There are about 40 people who gather consistently each week. Milal mission exists today because of our Tuesday meetings. Since 1979 this meeting has reaffirmed our status with God a booster-shot of faith.

3.After-school program
There is a disparity in the times when a disabled student is dismissed from school and when non-disabled students are dismissed from school. It is not rare to find a disabled student atrophying at home earlier than other students because of their unique and sometimes quirky dismissal time. To further compound the difficulty of the matter, too often parents of disabled children have to stay home because many if not most jobs cannot accommodate these situations. In lieu of these challenges, after-school program is held from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. After-school program is intended to benefit not only students with disabilities, but also their parents as well. Transportation is also readily available for those students that need it.

4.Sunday Worship
To equalize all facets of life for disabled individuals, the Milal missions offers 2 types of services every Sunday from 11:00 am to 2:00 PM. The adults and the students are divided into 2 distinct groups to maximize the age appropriateness of God’s message. Student volunteers arrive at 10 o’clock and serve until 2 o’clock. Adult services start at 11:00 AM and end at 12 o’clock. After worship conclude fellowship lunch is served. There are moments of collaboration during our Sunday services. Students with disabilities are invited to sing praises along with the adult service. Sometimes students with disabilities do not adapt very well in typical settings found in most generic Churches. Most of these generic churches do not provide conducive environments for the parents of disabled individuals to fully receive God’s grace, because of parental duties. Milal mission attempts to alleviate this peccadillo by offering a distinctly different Sunday service, one that can accommodate the needs of the disability community the best while proclaiming the Good News of Christ.

Milal New Jersey’s Monthly Ministry Status quo

1.April Disability Day
In commemoration of Disability Day on April 20th, we annually recognize the importance of that day especially as how it pertains to the quality of our lives. More often than not, the Saturday which coincides with disability day. We hold an open day for the general public. Those with curious minds are all welcomed to join us and increase the awareness about the disabled community.

2.5K/2K Walk & Run
Every May/June college students who have volunteered before in high school open a one-day 5K/2K Walk & Run event. With the profits collected by this event, the funds are used to support positive travel experiences for disabled students. There are foods, beverages, and raffles available.

3.June Concert of share
Through music’s adhesive quality, we come together as one worshipping unit regardless of our ability or disability. The New Jersey Sharing Harmony Orchestra donates their services. All the proceeds that are collected on that night in June is used to support Milal. We are once again reminded that God’s grace exceeds and transcends any barriers.

4.July Milal Love Camp
Milal Mission advocates for three kinds of disability equality tenets. Firstly, equality in places of worship. Secondly, equality in friendships and finally, equality in our places of work. There are many times in daily lives these advocated tenets are forgotten. We here at Milal attempt to address some of these neglected issues through our love camp, ensuring the message of God is spread to the disabled community and also offer the opportunity for disabled individuals to be wide and far in their choice of friendship. For the past 27 years Milal chapters in Philadelphia, Chicago, Charlotte, Atlanta, Richmond, etc. we have gathered together to form a strong 600 people coalition every year. The Westcoast is represented by a healthy annual love camp around Los Angeles, which are attended by the Milal chapters of San Jose, Seattle, Vancouver, and of course Los Angeles. We all come together in celebration of what God has done for us, despite our shortcomings. Regardless of the hosting location, various activities including medical services, foot massage, and etc. are planned. Thus, ensuring a good time for everyone involved.

5.Summer Bible School (VBS)
During the summer children with disabilities work together with our young volunteers to learn the Word of God. Based on the age of the student, there is a minor schedule shuffle. of course, there are times allotted for typical fun summer activities such as trips to the pool or trips to the movie theater. August is notorious for its tendency as a no-education period. Therefore, bible schools would be beneficial for both the disabled student and the parent.

6.Presidential Award Ceremony and Volunteer Training
To recognize and honor our diligent high school Volunteers who have been recommended by their works will be awarded with the Presidential award. This award serves to encourage a young student to lead a life of humility and to assume leadership roles of righteousness. There is also the fringe benefit of giving a college application that extra boost. September is when most students head back to school. It is also when new high school volunteers are recruited. Those new volunteers undertake a rigorous training about disabilities and how to best serve those with disabilities.

7.Fall Picnic
The theme of unity is reconfirmed every fall during our picnic outing event. Individuals with disabilities along with their family members and volunteers, supporters, and others gather to enjoy an outdoor feast. There are about 200 people who gather annually to relax and enjoy the outdoor creations of God.

8.November Thanksgiving Dinner
During the season of thankfulness and gratitude, we step back to reflect on the many blessings we received this year and how fortunate we are. Keeping up with the spirit of the season, we host a Thanksgiving dinner at a local hotel. Out of state relatives, friends, and special guests are invited and an overabundance of programs are planned. There are about 400 people present at this event. This program is also a major fundraising event for Milal.

9.Christmas Caroling
On Christmas day Our volunteers make a few rounds visiting and singing carols to our students with disabilities. Emotional vulnerability is high around Christmas time, especially home-ridden children with disabilities. delivering happiness through Caroling brings great joy to people with disabilities and their families.

Milal Abroad

Bangladesh Disabled Ministry

For over 30 years Milal has been dreaming and praying for missions that are spread out all over the world, along with our care and prayers for our own local disabled community here in New Jersey. In 2009, Pastor Kang, Won-ho and his wife, Kang, Mi-kyung visited a missionary for the deaf in Bangladesh. During the trip, they decided to setup a Milal mission for deaf individuals as well as other people with disabilities. They established the Agape home and school in a ghetto about an hour away in Dhaka. Mrs. Kang Mi-Kyung visits the School twice a year for about four months each period. The Agape school and home is a place of domicile and education for 10 ministers and 30 individuals with disabilities. The World Wheat has dispatched some special workers. Bangladesh is one of the most populous countries in the world, and is also a part of the Muslim Sunni population. Having little to no workers present and lacking a sound education for people with disabilities, the state of affairs is dismal to say the least. the Lord’s love and grace as well as basic hospital treatment for people with disabilities are offered.
